Welcome new Physicians

Welcome New Family Doctors and Pediatrician

We are very pleased to welcome two new family physicians to City Centre Family Physicians.  Dr. Jillian Fraser and Dr. Rachelle Kettner have both begun practice with us this summer.  They are not accepting new patients at this time, as they are covering the patients of our physicians on maternity leave:  Drs.  Merryweather, Cohen, and Steele.

This July we also had the pleasure of welcoming pediatrician Dr Kaleigh Hlady to our group.  She will see general pediatrics consultations (with referral from a family doctor).

All physician’s biographies can be found in the “physicians” tab of our website.

Dr. Schielke Leaving
April 24, 2017
Dear patient of City Centre Family Physicians,
It is with sadness I inform you I will be leaving City Centre Family Physicians (CCFP) as of June 5th, 2017.  I have no plans to come back to full time work at CCFP.  It is a decision I do not make lightly as I have met many great people in the last 8 months. Unfortunately, my family’s plans have shifted and will be taking us away from Saskatoon. I will be working as a locum (temporary physician) in Whitehorse and Yellowknife.
There is limited availability for patients to transfer to colleagues at CCFP, so if you would like to continue to be seen at the clinic I strongly urge you to call and request this as soon as possible.  Once the other doctor’s practices are full, there will no longer be any chance to switch, and you will be responsible for finding a new family doctor. In this case, we will gladly transfer your medical files to your next family doctor.  The Saskatoon Health Region keeps a list of physicians who are accepting new patients.
It has been my great pleasure to provide you with health services in the past, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people throughout my year in practice. Best wishes for a healthy future.
Dr. Schielke
Farewell to Dr. Basker
April 24, 2017
City Centre Family Physicians regretfully announce that Dr. Basker will be retiring as of July 1, 2017.  Although he will be greatly missed at CCFP by colleagues, staff and patients, we would like to wish Dr. Basker a very enjoyable retirement.

Letter to patients of Dr. Ivor Basker follows:

Dear Patients,

I have enjoyed caring for you and your families over the years. With a lot of joy, and some sadness, I am writing to let you know of my intention to retire. My last day with City Centre Family Physicians will be June 30th, 2017.
As you all know, this practice is staffed with some of the most knowledgeable and caring physicians in the country. I highly recommend that you consult one of these physicians for your future medical needs or refer to the Saskatoon Health Region website https://www.saskatoonhealthregion.ca for a list of physicians accepting new patients.
Your medical records are confidential and will remain on file with City Centre Family Physicians. If you will be seeing another physician within our organization, you do not need to take any action concerning your records. If you will be seeing a physician outside of our clinic, you will need to sign an authorization form before we can release your medical records. Please note, by law we cannot share your medical information without your written consent. You may sign this form at our office or you may complete the necessary paperwork at your first visit with your new doctor.
It has been a great pleasure meeting and caring for you all. I sincerely appreciate your friendship and loyalty. I wish you continued good health and all the best in the coming years.
Dr. Ivor Basker
Farewell to Dr. Geller
September 28, 2016

Dear Patients,
As many of you know I previously practiced in rural Canada and have a commitment to developing and maintaining practice opportunities for new to practice physicians in these areas.  Recently, I have been invited to participate in two projects that will improve both the exposure to rural medicine and the ability of physicians to work in these areas.  The first is an exciting project dedicated to developing a rural medical school in Nepal and the second will enhance the skills of rural physicians by teaching them to perform selected surgical procedures in isolated areas.
Both of these opportunities will require me to travel frequently and at short notice.  Because of this and out of respect for the physician patient relationship I feel that I can no longer provide care to you as your family physician.  I apologize for the very short notice that I am giving you.  I hope that you understand that this was not an easy decision for me to make.  As of 21 Sept I will no longer be working regularly with City Centre Family Physicians.
I would like to reassure you that, if you choose, my colleagues at City Centre Family Physicians will continue to care for you.  Currently, four of my colleagues: Drs Ryck Schielke, Matt Kushnerniuk, Cindi Cohen and Daniel Glaeske are accepting new patients.
It has been a great honour to care for you.  I know that I leave you in good hands.  The physicians and staff at City Centre Family Physicians are a great team of skilled professionals.
Brian Geller BSc, MD, MBA, CCFP, FCFP, FRRMS
Warm welcomes and Sad goodbyes
September 28, 2016
We are saying a fond farewell to Dr. Eppinga who has returned to British Columbia and to Dr. Reynolds, who is joining West Winds Primary Health Centre.  The physicians, staff and patients of City Centre Family Physicians will certainly miss them, but wish them well in their new adventures.

At the same time we are extremely happy to welcome Dr. Cindi Cohen, Dr. Matt Kushneriuk and Dr. Ryck Schielke to CCFP.  All are accepting new patients and are eager to meet both current and new patients.
